A memorial service for Lt. Col. Joseph B. "Bryan" Ferrell, USAF (Ret.) will be held at 10:30 am on January 6 at All Souls' Episcopal Church in Okla. City.

He died Nov. 25, 2010 at his home in Cypress, TX, after a brief illness. Born in Oklahoma City on August 22, 1932, to Forrest Shae and Teresa (Cooper) Ferrell, he was the youngest of 3 sons. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James R. Ferrell of Guthrie; his wife of 42 years, Zoraida "Penny" Duncan Ferrell of Jamaica, NY; and his wife of 4 years, Juana Ann Everett Ferrell of Oklahoma City, OK. He and Penny had 4 daughters, born and raised at the numerous duty stations he was assigned to. He is survived by his daughter, Josephine Rain Ferrell Ades, her husband, Mark Ades, and their son, Matthew Stuart Ferrell, of Cypress, TX; daughter, Deborah Ferrell-Lynn, her husband, Neil Lynn, and their children, Thomas Ferrell Lynn and Kathryn Dae Ferrell Lynn, of Edmond, OK; daughter, Stephanie Ferrell Titcomb and her husband, Stephen A. Titcomb, of Dallas, TX; daughter, Bryanna Ferrell-Maddox, her husband, Johnny Maddox, and their children, Nathan Duncan Ferrell and Jared Bryan Ferrell-Maddox, of Humble, TX; his brother, Donald F. Ferrell, and his wife, Sally Ferrell, of Chandler, OK; beloved nieces and nephews from Oklahoma and New York; and his special friend, Louisa Gray, of Las Vegas, NV.

He graduated in 1950 from Central High School in Oklahoma and received his undergraduate degree in 1956 from Oklahoma A&M. He received an MBA from Central State University in 1980. He entered the United States Air Force in May 1956 and graduated from Pilot Training in June, 1957. He served his nation for 20 years, retiring from active duty in 1976. He served one tour of duty in Southeast Asia as an Aircraft Commander in the Air Rescue Service, Jolly Green Helicopters, based in Thailand and is credited with 5 combat saves. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal w/5 oak leaf clusters, 2 Air Force Commendation medals, 2 Meritorious Service medals, and the South Vietnam Cross of Valor w/Palms. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Jolly Green Association; the USAF Helicopter Pilots' Assoc.; the Daedalians; the Central High Alumni Assoc.; and while living in retirement in Oklahoma, a member of All Souls' Episcopal Church, where he served as an usher.

In his bio, he wrote that his interest was "Golf, golf, golf." He taught his daughters and grandchildren to enjoy the game. He also enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, his daughters ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or All Souls'.
