Bea and Herb were close friends. Our prayers go out to Nancy and family. Herb Barclay passed away 6 years ago and Bea passed away in October. It's been a very hard year for family and friends. ~ Jack & Jayne Watkins, Winter Park, Florida November 06, 2013 Dear Nancy, I am so sorry to hear of Al's departure. My past memories of Alton, you and your family, that they could truly fill a scrapbook. From Stead, to Christmas Island, and all the reunions, stopping at your house for some of Als honey in the little bear jars (which our daughters thought was so neat). I don't think of the helicopter stories of long past without remembering Alton. What a great and kind person he was. I and all my family miss him but he will always live in the "remember one time when"----stories when ever his friends gather for holidays or reunions. As K.V. mentioned, Al was a good and kind gentle giant of a man who we will miss, who our country can thank for his service and his family can know we all share in their grief at this sad time. ~ Jim Carroll November 06, 2013 Alton has been counted among my special friends since grade school. We were both Air Force and enjoyed exchanging stories of our service years. My prayers are extended to Nancy and the entire family. May God grant you peace and comfort in this difficult time. ~ Jim Pitts, Waco, Texas November 06, 2013 Alton Deviney has been my closest and dearest friend for over 50 years. We were stationed together at Stead AFB, NV; Sheppard AFB, TX; and Udorn RTAFB, Thailand. We both loved shooting, hunting and flying helicopters. Shortly after my divorce in 1977, Al came to Great Falls to inspect one of his Squadrons, (he was Commander of 37th ARS at the time) and he spent the evening at my house and to cheer me up, when I found a package deer backstrap Al cooked it up “Texas Style”. We always had a good time at the USAFHPA Reunions re-telling all the old stories and re-living our adventures . He was a good man. God Bless and Comfort Al's family. Kyron "KV" HallHistorian, USAF Helicopter Pilot Assn ~ ~ KV Hall, Great Falls, Montana November 06, 2013 Nancy and family...so sorry to hear that Al had passed away. I will always remember how nice he was to me, how much fun he was, the stories he told, the "animals" he kept and the most special memory for me....the stories he told about his little dogs. May he rest in peace. Kathy M. Hall ~ Kathy Hall, Great Falls, Montana |
