Richard D. Cox graduated from Brigham Young University in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
Cox was born December 17, 1932 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Golden and Lilly Cox. He attended a year of school at Idaho State University before transferring to BYU.
While at BYU, he entered the Air Force ROTC program, and later served as an officer in the US Air Force. He served as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the Air Force, Cox worked for 32 years at BYU at the Alumni Association and in Career Placement.
He married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Virginia Hansen, in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 27, 1954. Together they had two children, Randall Dean and Nicole.
Cox passed away November 9, 2014 at the age of 81.
