Louis A. Broussard, USAF January 03, 1937 - May 29, 2013 Louis A. Broussard, LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Louis A. Broussard, age 76, who died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at his residence in The Woodlands, Texas, after complications from cancer.
A Committal Service and Interment will be in the Pickett Family Cemetery in Bastrop, Louisiana on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 4:00 PM. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Alison Broussard, vocalist, will sing for the service, "Blessings," "I Will Fly Away", "How Great Thou Art" and "It Is Well With My Soul". Gift bearers will be Cameron Elise Broussard and Lauren Clare Broussard.
Survivors include, one daughter, Lisa Anne Haire and her husband, Albert Alan Haire of McKinney, Texas; two sons, James Barry Broussard and his wife, Alison Moffet Broussard of Kerrville, Texas and Scott Allen Broussard and his wife, Aimee Kelty Broussard of The Woodlands, Texas; six grandchildren, Harlan Matthew Shelby Haire, Amanda Freeman Haire, Cameron Elise Broussard, Lauren Clare Broussard, Taylor Allen Broussard and Benjamin Payne Broussard. He is also survived by his siblings, Geraldine Broussard Ryder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Deanna Broussard Latiolais of Youngsville, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Fae Pickett Broussard, who died on September 4, 2002; his parents, Theodore Broussard and the former Rita Guilbeau; and one grandchild, Jared Alan Haire, who died in January, 1983.
Louis A. Broussard was born on January 3, 1937 in Lafayette, Louisiana and lived most of his life in Louisiana. He was a high school graduate of Cathedral High School in Lafayette and graduated from USL with a degree in Industrial Technology. Mr. Broussard was a veteran of military service, who proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twelve years and was classified as an E-5 Flight Mechanic.
Louis married Reba Fae Pickett in February 1960 in Wascom, Texas. He was employed with Petroleum Helicopters Incorporated in Lafayette and enjoyed working 40 years as a Helicopter Pilot. Mr. Broussard loved his grandchildren, his military history, gospel music, gardening, flying, aircraft and traveling. He was a member of the Catholic Faith, Civil Air Patrol and AOPA.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Location on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:00 PM at Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Albert Alan Haire, James Barry Broussard, Scott Allen Broussard and Harlan Matthew Shelby Haire. Honorary pallbearers are Taylor Allen Broussard and Benjamin Payne Broussard.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Louis A. Broussard's name to the American Cancer Society, 1604 West Pinhook Rd., Suite 182, Lafayette, LA 70508. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 297153, Houston, Texas 77297.
