He was a member of Search and Rescue during his career in Florida where he received a letter of commendation from Florida Troopers for helping to catch a murder suspect with his fellow crew members. Nick was also a member of 55th Special Operations squadron and flew on Black Hawk helicopters until medical concerns grounded him. Nick's last duty station was Elmendorf AFB where his status changed to Disabled Veteran.
Nick loved Alaska and felt it was "Truly God's Country". He loved to fish and hunt until his health would no longer allow him to. He loved to go on long walks with his constant companion Bowser.
Nick was the person that everyone looked to when there was a problem to be solved; he intuitively knew the path forward and gave selfless love and encouragement to get there. Nick was our family's rock and he will forever be sorely missed and eternally loved.
