Major General Cecil Edward Fox, USAF Major General Cecil Edward Fox, USAF, passed away on December 25, 2011. He was the last surviving son of John and Annie (Schad) Fox of Waco, Texas.
His brothers Paul, William, John, Charles, and James preceded him in death. He was married to Carol Sue Fox (Abraham) for 53 years until her death in August, 2009. His three children Michael, Teresa, and Brian and his eight grandchildren survive him.
He was born in 1923 in Waco, Texas. He attended Baylor University and received a service appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. He received his commission in 1947. General Fox served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was a command pilot with more than 5,500 flying hours. His military decorations and awards include the Distinguished Service Medal; Legion of Merit; Distinguished Flying Cross; Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; and from the Republic of Vietnam, the Armed Forces Distinguished Service Order, 2d Class; Air Service Medal, Honor Class; and Gallantry Cross. General Fox retired from the Air Force in 1980.
He and his wife lived and enjoyed their retirement in Austin until Carol's death in 2009. General Fox will be buried at the United States Military Academy at West Point on January 9, 2012
