John Edward Fiser, Lt. Col. USAF (Retired) - July 14, 2015
FISER, John Edward passed from this life July 14, 2015 in Largo. John was the son of Carmen and Kathryn Fiser and the first of three sons.
He is survived by brothers, Tom and his wife, Laura, and Burt, and his wife, Jan. He was married to Jacqueline Darlene Fiser, the daughter of Virgil and Othel Bigger, for more than 50 years. Together, they raised four sons, all of whom survive them: Jeff and his wife, Lois and their children Luke, Sarah, and Jordan; Joel and son, Ian; Christopher and his wife, Dawn; Curtis and his wife, Dana and their children, Cassyln and Jackson.
John served 22 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He was a pilot and flew for most of his career, which included a tour in Vietnam flying Huey helicopters for the Air Force Special Services. He retired in 1978 to Tampa, where he and Jacqueline finished raising their children. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, both skills he picked up while growing up on a farm in northwest Ohio, and working as a railroad carpenter. Dad was most proud of his family.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice. Published in the Tampa Bay Times on July 20, 2015 |
GUEST BOOK July 23, 2015 Goodbye and rest in peace John. I'm sure you and Ron are telling old football stories and enjoying perfect health again. We three graduated from MHS together and seems a short time ago. Ron and I were at your mothers funeral. I'm now living in Winter Haven since Ron died. God bless your families. I'm keeping you in my prayers. ~ Jacquelyn Youse Whetro, Winter Haven, Florida July 23, 2015 I have fond memories of Mr. Fiser from when we first met. He came to my home in Ky and stayed at our farm for Jeff's and Lois's wedding? He was an easy guest. He enjoyed the shade trees and appreciated just relaxing in the outdoors. Later when my boys went to college in Temple Terrace he helped them whenever they needed a ride to the airport or just a helping hand. Those kind gestures are not soon forgotten. Hugs and prayers to all the Fiser families. ~ Donna Howell, Mount Sterling, Kentucky July 21, 2015 In remembrance of a good friend and fellow KC-97 Pilot. God Speed. ~ Paul and Mari Etta Zook July 20, 2015 Fair Winds Sir...... Prayers to your family. ~ Eric Greenblatt, Albuquerque July 20, 2015 My sincere condolences to the Fiser family. I didn't know Col Fiser personally but was a gunner with the 20th SOS later. He will be honored at our annual Green Hornet reunion toast to departed Hornets. Slow hand salute July 20, 2015 Just an Air Force Vet from the late 50s and early 60s.My prayers for the family and he was a credit to our country and the U.S.A.F.May he rest in peace. ~ Gene Dearmitt, Jackson, Tennessee My condolences to the Fiser family. I flew many missions in Vietnam with, then, Capt. Fiser. On 29, October 1967, his skill as a UH-1F helicopter pilot save my life and that of the other crew members and a six man MACV SOG team we had onboard. Our engine gearbox blew up in flight catching us on fire as we were in Cambodia preparing to insert the team. Capt. Fiser made a beautiful power off auto-rotation landing into a small spot in the jungle below. God rest the soul of my hero and may God comfort and protect the Fiser family. SMSgt. Burns USAF (Retired) ~ James (Jim) Burns, Navarre, Florida July 20, 2015 My sincerest condolences to the Fiser Family. May the God of all comfort (Psalm 83:18) help you during these difficult times. ~ JKP Hawkins |
