Maurice Allan (Maury) Lange

Final Flight on June 14, 2009

Maurice Allan (Maury) Lange, USAF (Retired)

May 13, 1941 - June 14, 2009

Maurice Allan (Maury) Lange, a giving man of God, a faithful husband, and a loving father went home to be with his Lord on June 14th, 2009.

Born May 13, 1941 in Grandview to Gilmer and Audrey Lange, he graduated Grandview High School in 1959. He met Gretchen Baker at WSU and they married June 16th, 1962. Maury then graduated from the University of Washington and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. They have 4 children, son Mark and Angela Lange and grandchildren Marshall, Samantha, and Jonathan; son Dennis and Soari Lange; son Kurt and Tina Lange and granddaughter Kendra; daughter Sarah and Gale Owsley and granddaughters Taylor, Kacey, Carolyn, and Paris.

Maury served in the USAF (1964-77) as a pilot; primarily "Huey" helicopters and B52's. His decorations for his service in Vietnam (1969-70) include the Distinguished Flying Cross. As a Huey pilot he proudly belonged to the 20th Special Operations Squadron, the "Green Hornets".

He worked in the Washington DC region (1977-84) and then the family moved back to Grandview where he worked in Real Estate until he retired in the 90's.

He was active with the community: the Salvation Army, the Gideons, the Hispanic community, Bethany Presbyterian Church, the "Save the Montagnard People" campaign (the native mountain people of Vietnam), and the Mabton VFW.

Maurice has a brother Gene (Carol) Lange of Sunnyside and a sister Debi (Jim) Foster of Grandview and several nieces and nephews.

Maury loved and was very proud of his family and enjoyed being with friends. He was an active gardener, storyteller, and humanitarian.

His family would like to thank the staff and especially the nurses of Yakima Valley Regional ICU for the care they provided. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Grandview, WA. A private family inurnment service will be held at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to contribute to "Young Life Lower Valley" or the Bethany Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
