Troy Glenn Irvin, Sr., 77, passed away May 17, 2009 in Adelanto, CA.


Troy Glenn Irvin was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Brady, Texas, to Lonnie K. Irvin, and Esther Jane Raven. Troy passed away May 17, 2009.

 

At the age of 3, the family moved to Springfield, Colo. Troy was raised and schooled in Baca County, where he still has family and friends.

 

In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and flew rescue helicopters for 20 years. He was married to Diana June Watson in 1959 and they had five children together. He went to college after retiring and also earned a real estate license. He liked to play pool and do crosswords, and watch boxing matches. He was also an excellent piano player. He loved his pet dogs.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; his parents, Lonnie and Esther; brothers Chester, Ellis and Hildred; sister Verna Ruth; and his son Dana. He is survived by his children Troy Irvin Jr., Jeffrey Irvin and Leslee Irvin, all of Adelanto; and Shelly Irvin of Las Vegas, Nev. He also leaves nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

 

Services are to be held at 4 p.m. today at Victor Valley Memorial Park in Victorville, with a reception to follow at 7 p.m. at the Amvets in Adelanto. Deacon Charles Cain will officiate.

 

Troy G. Irvin was a potential VHPA who member died after his tour in Vietnam on 05/17/2009 at the age of 77 after being released from the hospital in Adelanto, CA.

 

He served in Vietnam with Det. 11, 38th ARRS in 1965 and again in 1967 - 1968 under the call sign "Pedro".
