James "Jim" F. Travis, TSgt, USAF (Retired) November 18, 1936 - January 01, 2012 January 01, 2012
James Franklin Travis, 75 of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly at 8:23 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2012 in the emergency room of Pecos County Memorial Hospital, Fort Stockton, Texas.
Born November 18, 1936 in Battle Creek, Michigan, he was the son of the late Elmer Elsworth and Ruth A. Parmele Travis. He was married June 10, 1955, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Betty Sue (Norrod) Travis, who survives.
James was a graduate of Central High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. He served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant. Following his career in the military, he worked for 20 years as a maintainence supervisor at Wilson Foods.
He and his wife enjoyed spending winters in the warmth of Texas. James was a very active member of the American Legion in Sanderson, Texas.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-inlaw, Susan Marie Quade and her husband Darrell, of Mesa, AZ and Rita DeWitt and her husband Robert, of Monticello, IN; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian F. Travis and his wife Amy, of Fort Wayne, IN; one brother, Thomas H. Travis and his wife Karen, of Battle Creek, MI; one sister, Ann M. Strykowski and her husband Robert, of Gay, MI; three grandchildren, Jason DeWitt and his wife Shannon, Jennifer Fuhrman and her husband Jason, and Amber DeWitt; and two great-grandchildren, Derek and Rylie DeWitt.
Funeral Information
Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport.
A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Blake Hall officiating. Following the funeral service, members of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the funeral home.
