Louis Tauzin (April 28, 1929 - December 14, 2012)

 

Lafayette, LA - Louis Tauzin was born on August 28, 1929, in Breaux Bridge, LA.

 

He attended Lafayette High School, graduating in 1946. After school Louis joined the Merchant Marines. He traveled extensively in North America, South America and Orient. Louis enlisted in the US Air Force during the Korean War, where he was a tail gunner on a B-29. After the war Louis entered Pilot training earning a commission in 1954 where he went on to be the current in eight planes from F102 jet fighter to helicopter while stationed in Sault S. Marie, MI. He retired in 1960 with the rank of Captain.

 

Louis was in a horrific automobile accident in 1960 - making a miraculous recovery with the help and prayers of family and friends. Louis went on to be a successful businessman owning All Pro Carwash and Louis's Carwash, retiring in 1999. Louis continued to pursue a lifelong love of golf, the outdoors and good friends. Louis will be sadly missed by his family and all his wonderful friends.

 

Louis is survived by his wife of 42 years; Claire Montet Tauzin, his son Robert Tauzin, his special friend Betsy Andrews and his devoted caretaker Randall Lemaire; his sister Jeanette Latiolais and her husband Whitney Latiolais. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Aimee Tauzin and Antoine Tauzin.

 

Our family wishes to thank all the caregivers on the seventh floor of Lafayette General Medical Center and all the caregivers with St. Joseph Hospice for their devoted care.
