Mace, was involved in an accident about 3 miles east north east of Ray City, GA. Also on this helicopter was the commander of the 3550th Training Group at Moody AFB, GA., Col. Dean Davenport, one of the famous Doolittle fliers who made the first air raid on Tokyo, who was slightly injured. This crash occured as the helicopter was returning to Moody AFB, GA. from the scene of a T-33 jet several miles east of Nashville, GA. The helicopter dropped to earth and topled over. Moody authorities said the helicopter occupants were on 'shaken up', but only suffered from shock and bruises. No other details available at this time |
