January 12, 1946 - December 27, 2012

CHARLESTON, IL – Michael Alan “Mick” Hartley, age 66 of Charleston and formerly of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the home of his sister and with the comforting presence of his brother and sister at his side.

A family Graveside Service in celebration of his life will be held at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois at a later date.

It is requested that memorial gifts in his honor be made to Knob Prairie Cemetery.  Gifts may be mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.

Mick was born on January 12, 1946 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and was a son of the late Ed and Doris (Green) Hartley.  He is survived by a daughter, Connie Jo Hartley of Loves Park, Illinois and a son, Michael Edward Hartley of Charleston; three grandchildren, Madelaine Jo Hartley, Gage Michael Hartley and Patrick William Hartley; a sister, Donna Ozier of Charleston; a brother, Terry Hartley and wife Kathy of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.

Mick was an eight year Veteran of the United States Air Force and faithfully and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War.  He was an Aeromedical Tech based in Thailand, and a member of a helicopter rescue crew, flying missions in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Mick was a painter by trade and was employed by David Jay Phipps Painting when living in Florida.  Mick was soft-spoken and easy to get along with which enabled him to make friends easily.  He often enjoyed meeting up with friends at the local pub for a game of darts or just conversation.

Mick’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Lincolnland Hospice.  Their many kindnesses and caring support for Mick and their family has been deeply appreciated.
