Roger Netz


Joined USAF 28 Nov 58. 

 

After basic training and tech school, taught B-52 turret system at Lowry AFB for 2 1/2 years. 

 

Sent to Sheppard AFB and taught Titan II missile guidance system for 2 years. 

 

Got out in 1963.  Joined USAF Reserve, 302nd Special Operations Squadron in 1974 as an airframe repair specialist. 

 

Crossed over to flight line mechanic then became a Flight Engineer in 1980 on CH-3/HH3-E Helicopters and after some years was an FE Instructor and Flight Examiner.  

 

302nd converted to F-16's and the Special Ops was moved to Davis-Monthan  AFB. We became the 71st SOS. 

 

In July 1987  I had a heart attack and could no longer be on flying status, so crossed over to Itelligence. 

 

In early 1991 we were deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield / Desert Storm.  Unit was later converted to 305th RQS. 

 

I retired August 2000.
