Here's the real thing! But it was when I was a civilian again working for the USN as a contract pilot at the Atlantic Underwater Test & Evaluation Center (AUTEC) in the Bahamas. They used special MK-48 torpedoes which were instrumented and ran in simulation of certain types of Russian Subs to hunt and kill.  When the water was too rough for the boats to launch, we did it with our SH-3G's.  This was a shot of a test I flew to evaluate the right altitude and airspeed for proper torpedo entry, so we wouldnt screw up the instrumentation in them.  We also picked them up and brought them back after the exercise! As you can see the Torpedo was carried in an external apparatus and launched electronically with explosive squibs timed to release the front first! A lot of fun and they paid us for it!
